I gained an Honours degree in Biology and Physical Education from Loughborough University in 1971, and a Masters degree in Educational Administration from the University of Birmingham in 1981. Before studying acupuncture, I was a senior lecturer and college manager specialising in sports science and anatomy and physiology.

I graduated from the College of Traditional Acupuncture in 1987 and I have been a registered acupuncturist since that time.

The British Acupuncture Council (BAcC) is the regulating body for the acupuncture profession in the UK. Members must complete a minimum of three years training and are bound by strict codes of ethics, safe practice and professional conduct. Members and clinics must also be registered with their local authority environmental health department.
